PEACE OF MIND

Scripture Reading - Philippians 4:6-8 KJV

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

All people enjoy having “Peace of Mind” but it happens by design rather than by accident. First, we notice in verse 6 that peace is a direct reflection of not being careful. This means that in order to enjoy a healthy lifestyle of “Peace of Mind” one must become skillful at being careless. We (ihlcc) are not speaking of being careless in the sense of irresponsible, no quite the contrary we are stating being careless about things, events, situations, circumstances and people that bring worry. Many today will say that they are concerned about this or that and their concern can quickly turn into worry which robs them of their personal “Peace of Mind”. Yes, the key is stopping carefulness immediately so when a troubling thought comes we quickly and consistently pray to our Heavenly Father in the Name of Jesus with thanksgiving. The moment we prayed about the problem we must cast that specific care over unto the Lord so that He can carry it rather than us. We give all our worries and concerns to the Lord because He has already carried our mental sorrows and physical pains. Yes, Jesus took our troubles for the exact purpose of giving us His “Peace of Mind”. The scripture in verse 6 did not give us the option of being a little careful by clearly stating, “Be careful for nothing” so to think you can have worry (anxiety of mind) and “Peace of mind” (calmness with serenity) operating at the same time is foolish. No, you must have singleness of thought upon the good things God has done for you to appreciate the “Peace of Mind” God has provided for you. The next verse of Philippians 4:8 confirms the fact that your thinking greatly influences your ability to enjoy God’s “Peace of Mind”. Remember, when it comes to enjoying “Peace of Mind” you must refrain from all worry, concern, dread, anxiety and fear in your thought life. We (ihlcc) do this by either praying about the situation to gain God’s help believing we received it by faith or speaking (singing, praising) the Word of God that promises us victory in that specific situation to remind ourselves that God has already taken care of that issue. This is not an overnight process but it is very rewarding and satisfying when you experience the “Peace of Mind” God intended for you. The Father God has already made provision for “Peace of Mind” for all people but the question is, “Will you enjoy it?” Hopefully, we have pointed you to a key principle for experiencing this “Peace of Mind” on a continuous basis. We know God always operate in this “Peace of Mind” so shouldn’t His Beloved Children be just like Him? Amen.
